Job Seeker Profile

Job Seeker Registration and Profile Setup 

STEP 1  To obtain your free account and gain access to hundreds of employment opportunities, including our FREE Career events please complete the following:

  • CREATE AN ACCOUNT
  • Enter your basic information (Full Name, email, username, password)

STEP 2

  • Log in using the username and password you have created
  • Click on “CREATE JOB SEEKER PROFILE” button under the Register as a Job Seeker section
  • Fill in all information as requested on each tab

* (NOTE: When filling in the Text Resume, ensure that you first save your resume as a RTF or TXT and then copy and paste the text version.)

  • Click on “ADD NEW RESUME” at the bottom right hand corner, you may upload a maximum of 5 resumes

* (NOTE: When you upload your full resume as an attachment, only “pdf”, “doc”, “docx”, “rtf”, “jpeg”, “jpg”, “png”, “gif” file types are allowed.) 

** (NOTE: In order for your resume to be viewed you must PUBLISH it first)

STEP 3 

If you are registering for one of our upcoming Job Fairs, you will have an opportunity to view the job postings prior to the event itself.  This will give you an opportunity to customize your resume to match the companies that you are targeting that day.

You also have access to various tools that will assist you in your job searching.

  • Under the heading of Job Seeker Tools, you can select from the following:
  • My Applications - this allows you to keep track of postings you have applied to
  • Cover Letters - You can create and save your cover letters
  • My Resume Files - You can create and save up to 5 versions of your resume
  • RSS Feeds - create an RSS feed to show you what new jobs have been posted

 


 

Job Search Services

Employment Resource Centre

A staff member is always available to help and provide advice at our Employment Resource Centres where you will find:

  • Computers, Internet, newspapers, a telephone, a fax machine, a printer, and a photocopier
  • Access to adaptive devices for persons with disabilities (including assistive keyboards, mice, trackball, low mobility software and a Reading Pen®)
  • Information on the local labour market, careers and occupations, Employment Ontario programs, and community programs and resources
  • Information on education/training opportunities and requirements including apprenticeship and self-employment
  • Career planning and job search strategies
  • Assistance with resumes, cover letters, and interview skills
  • A variety of self-directed software to learn at your speed
  • Information on workplace safety, including rights and responsibilities of individuals and employers
  • WHMIS and Basic Occupational Health & Safety certification

Employment Resource Centres are located at The WorkPlace in Sarnia and The WorkPlace County Outreach in Petrolia. All services are free.

Job Searching

The WorkPlace Group offers employment services to assist in preparing for, obtaining and keeping a job. These services may consist of an employment needs assessment, the development of a Return to Work Plan, individual employment consulting, advice about job loss, retraining and education, job search techniques, labour market information, job placement services, and on-the-job follow up.

Employment Consulting

Employment Consultants assist people in finding and keeping employment. Clients are assisted to identify their employment strengths and challenges. They will create a step by step "Return To Work Action Plan", and will receive continued support to ensure successful long-term employment.

Job Placement

For clients that have difficulty with an independent job search, we provide additional supports through our Job Placement team. Our team may find or develop employment and assist in job negotiations or workplace modifications that will lead to continued success on the job.

Additional services:

  • Identifying and clarifying interests, abilities, skills, and education in relation to short and long-term career goals
  • Exploring training requirements
  • Facilitating skills that support successful employment
  • Job search tools such as resumes, interviews, job search strategies
  • On-the-job training opportunities
  • Placement support in resolving workplace issues to ensure a successful match
  • Support to remove work related barriers

Job Retention

This support is available when continued employment is unlikely without further assistance. Eligible individuals can expect support and mentoring to promote long-term employment based on developing experience, workplace skills, capabilities and confidence.

We also offer free workshops to assist you with job searching.
