Chemical or Mechanical Engineering Superintendent



  • Direct Hire role in Niagara Falls
  • Responsibilities will include providing direction and leadership (supervising the Shift Supervisors, Training Coordinator, and Production Engineer, coordinating plant shutdowns, liaising with management to ensure maintenance issues are resolved, communicating policies and procedures to staff, assisting Shift Supervisors and Human Resources in dealing with disciplinary issues, communicating production and operational plans and issues at meetings, ensuring adequate shift scheduling, conducting performance appraisals and recommending additional training, and maintaining employee morale), operations (holding incident reviews, troubleshooting equipment malfunctions, interpreting production schedules, interacting with Logistics regarding shipments/inventory, coordinating production schedules and raw material ordering with the Production Engineer, reviewing daily log sheets for production issues, and issuing daily production reports), ensuring the plant is operated in a safe and environmentally sound manner (conducting daily activities in support of HSE objectives and policies, establishing safety and environmental norms as a work philosophy, and preparing permits for work by contractors), and coordinating training requirements (coordinating the yearly review of all operations procedures, overseeing the re-training of all operating personnel on procedures every three years, and ensuring all training has been documented)
  • Responding to some issues after hours will be expected
  • Must      be willing to relocate to the Niagara area
  • Possession      of a degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering is required
  • At      least eight years of related experience in plant operations, with a focus      on plant production is mandatory
  • Strong      knowledge of plant processes with proven diagnostic and problem solving      skills is critical
  • Previous      supervisory experience including planning, coordinating, and delegating      work is required
  • Must      have related experience in project planning and preparing reports
  • Sound      knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act is crucial
  • SAP      knowledge preferred
